DIY: Chocolate Covered Apple Slices

Oooh, I came across this on Pinterest and it’s making my mouth water + they’re so freaking cute!  There’s a DIY post from the German blog, RosaRot but since I can’t read German I’m going to guess at the steps.  All images below are from RosaRot.

Ingredients:  Apples, chocolate (to melt), sprinkles, chopped nuts, toppings of your choice, and wooden skewers.

Prep:  Setup toppings in shallow bowls.

Step 1:  Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave.

Step 2: Slice apples, approximately 1/2″ thick.

Step 3:  Dip apples in the melted chocolate.

Step 4:  Skewer the apple slices and dip in toppings.

Step 5:  Let apples dry by standing them upright in a mug or glass.

Step 6:  Eat.  Eat them all!!!

Ideas:  Why not do the same thing except with caramel?!?  Hmm, what about peanut butter?

  1. Love this idea – and great photos too!

  2. can you tell me, do the apples brown? How long do they last and do they need to be refrigerated?

    • You may want to soak the apples in water with a lemon juice to keep them from browning. I’d recommend keeping them refrigerated and they’ll probably last 3 days.

Please note, I translated this DIY from the German blog, RosaRot. It’s not my original idea 🙂

      • Jut had to post a comment regdiarng these shoes. They are soooooo comfortable, very sure footed, with a wide heel for stability and best of all they kept my weight consisitently on the balls of my feet without effort.I made much more direct contact with the ball, which had me hitting straighter and further. The surprise for me came with my putting.Again, over the ball which gave me much more accuracy.End result, 5 strokes off my best score!I cannot wait til these hit the spring market.I just happened to be at a place where they were allowing people to demoThe colors are incredible and some great extra features, like interchangeable straps for coordinating the look and magnetic ball markers.I did not want to take them off!Has anyone heard of a market price for these shoes??My pro shop better get these shoes in every color!

  3. Please post a link to the actual post on the blog. The link you included goes to an empty blog page with an error message saying there’s no such post. I’m hoping Chrome’s translate function can explain how to keep the chocolate from sliding off the juicy cut apple surface, as I suspect would happen if you don’t prepare the slices some how.

Also, skewer the apples before dipping them. You can see the skewer in the dipping pic, and if you try to skewer after dipping, you will wipe all the chocolate off the apple onto your hands.
